Distributed temperature data provide a detailed understanding of chang-es in the environment along the entire length of an installation, whether it is downhole or along a pipeline, for example. However, there is often also a user requirement for the DTS data to warn of specific temperature events, either hot or cold, and for this to be done automatically. PSE intelligent alarms software does this by allowing the user to set/change alarms and alerts, assigned to multiple zones of interest along the installed fiber. A zone can be as small as a single data point, or cover the entire fiber. The alarms are triggered by some user- definable event such as the temperature moving outside a selected range or the temperature rising or falling faster than a specified rate. The user can also select the action on each alert, closing a set of relay contacts, or providing the alert to a SCADA system.
PSE offers a variety of options for industrial connectivity that com-plements our range of Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) systems. The Sentinel range of DTS units lead the way in terms of performances in DTS technology with: temperature resolution of better than 0.01°C; the fastest measurement speed available (down to 10 seconds); the greatest coverage of up to 30km from a single channel.
